Fast break into the new Arena for varsity basketball
Tuesday night, the Varsity Basketball boys played against the Cumberland Christian Patriots, marking their first NC home game in the new Arena. The team walked off the court with a well-earned win, ready for a successful upcoming season. “It was really fun to see the crowd in the new Arena. This renewed season should be fun, especially it being the opening year of the Arena, so I’m excited,” Sophomore and Varsity Player, Tyler Gorsuch said.

The Varsity Boys Basketball team took on their first home game in the new NC Arena against the Cumberland Christian Patriots, Tuesday, December 4. Warriors ended the intense game with a victory, 58 to 45.
“We were shaky during the first half, but we came back the second half. We were nervous at the beginning but we came through,” senior Varsity player Kevin Hester said.
Players performed to their full potential and managed to maintain a lead against the Patriots through both halves of the game. To start off the game, senior Shota Suzuki started with a technical foul, bringing the Warrior’s score to two. The Patriots worked on their part to keep a close score and ended the first half two points behind the Warriors’ score of 11.
“First half, we had too many turnovers, but second half we did good. I think I’m gonna be a good help to the team and we’ll go all the way,” sophomore and Varsity player Jaylen Harris said.
The second half the two teams scores still stood close to one another. The Warriors did not let their guard down for this intense, close score. The Patriots’ points started to quickly add up and the Warriors fell behind for a short while with three minutes left in the game, after keeping a lead throughout, but quickly picked up their pace to come out on top against the Patriots.
To start off the intense game, Shota Suzuki threw a technical foul shot giving the lead to NC by 2 points.The Warriors managed to keep their lead for almost the entirety of the game and ended as winners, projecting a bright future with the first win of the first game of the season.
“I think if we keep continuing to grow as a team, we would be in a great and better shape and compete against one of the toughest region in Georgia,” Shota Suzuki said.
