North Cobb hosted a ceremony intended to honor and appreciate all those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces this morning, November 11.

In the media center, administration arranged an invitation-only breakfast prepared by Chef Christian and the rest of the Culinary crew for veteran staff members and their relatives.

The ceremony then traveled into the theater, which included a lively performance by the choir and orchestra under the conduction of Ms. Botella and Dr. Krupiczewicz respectively, the raising of the flags, a funeral toll to commemorate fallen soldiers, and a slideshow of all of the veterans and their children, spouses, and siblings.

Before the program, the staff put on a Veteran’s Day breakfast for the local veterans. The culinary class provided a range of breakfast foods and most of the young chefs came in early to prepare.

“I hope people will remember that a lot of men and women have served. Sometimes they’re forgotten, and that should never happen,” said sophomore and ROTC student Quentin Gillespie.

Guest speaker Paul L. Williams, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, spoke about his interest and commitment to his service branch. Williams offered words of wisdom for fellow high school students: “It’s important for kids to speak to veterans so they can understand how much veterans do for them,” he emphasized.

Dr. Kolen, assistant principal, dedicated her time and effort to ensure that the ceremony brewed success.

“We are all thankful for the men and women who have sacrificed so much for all of us in this country. We should not forget that every soldier is a son, daughter, husband, wife, father, mother, sister or brother. We are honoring them with this program today.” Dr. Kolen said.
