The Atlanta Braves baseball team clinched the 2021 World Series on Tuesday night in a 7-0 blowout over the Houston Astros. After defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Conference Championship, the Braves took a 3-1 series lead in the world championship before dropping game five at Truist Park. The achievement marks Atlanta’s first World Series win since 1995, and gives veteran first baseman Freddie Freeman his initial ring. Pinch hitter Jorge Soler earned World Series MVP after hitting three go ahead home runs over the course of the series. Various NC students supported the Braves organization by sporting jerseys and t-shirts throughout the week, while also attending home games during the entirety of playoffs.
