NC Wind Symphony Band students practice in the PAC for tonight's Black History Month Concert. “Of Our New Day Begun,” the piece played at the concert, is a memorial piece from a terrorist attack on Mother Emanuel A.M.E Church, written by black composer Omar Thomas. “The emotion and history to this piece plays a huge part in how we represent and express it when we play,” freshman Leika Badstibner said.
