Kanye West’s mental outbreaks on social media led fans to think someone hacked West’s account. West uploaded a series of pictures of himself to his 14 million followers on Instagram while holding a yellow-lined notebook paper reading; “My account is not hacked. 2 13 22.” In the next picture, he held the same notebook but wore a black balaclava.

In the last two weeks, Kanye West shocked his fans with unusual behavior and attacks towards his ex-wife Kim Kardashian. Kardashian and West divorced each other in February of 2021. Since then, things have turned nasty for the two. One of the most recent events involves West bashing Kardashian for letting their 8-year-old daughter North West use Tiktok. West has kept his family business private for years, so seeing him rant about Kardashian shocked the world.

West uploads a screenshot of his daughter’s Tiktok which she made with her mom. West asks his Instagram followers for advice since he never went through a divorce before. He claims Kardashian posted their daughter “against his will”. (ladbible.com)

On February 5, 2022, West posted a screenshot of his daughter’s Tiktok on Instagram and used a problematic caption. West later posted several messages between him and Kardashian’s family and posted a quote on Twitter explaining what they sent him.

Kardashians’ cousin Kara texted West giving him moral support regarding parenting and his divorce. Moments later, she asks West if she should purchase Yeezys off Stockx. West immediately becomes defensive in his response. (nzherald.co.nz)

“This is an example of Kim’s cousin agreeing with me about Tik Tok then proceeding to ask me for some yeezys. Afterward, her other cousin Kara called me saying she agreed with me then said she would speak out publicly which she never did…. I do this for every parent on either side whose kids’ futures are being one-sidedly controlled. I don’t even have the right to get angry as a father without being called erratic,” West said.

Days prior, Kim posted a statement regarding his post on Instagram.

“Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create. As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision — because it brings her so much happiness. Divorce is difficult enough on our children and Kanye’s obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all,” Kardashian said.

While Kardashian claims she supervises North West’s TikTok, her daughter still should not use the app.  Tiktok exposes people to new things that can negatively impact them. Tik Tok does its best to remove inappropriate videos, sounds and accounts. Because of the high volume of videos that people upload daily, this does not always work. Exposing kids to violence and sexual content can change them and how they think. Tiktok or Instagram accomplish this by allowing a variety of different content .

With TikTok giving the opportunity of free speech, people can comment on anything they wish. Considering West’s and Kardashian’s fame, people use that against them to comment on inappropriate statements under North West’s Tiktok. The hateful comments of the world should not be revealed to an 8-year-old.

“There are many innocent, funny, enjoyable aspects of Tik Tok. Many are even suitable for children younger than 13. However, the potential for a young child to come across inappropriate material is almost certain,” Geometry teacher Angela Milani said.

Parents might point out Tiktok’s feature where they add additional privacy and safety for kids under the age of 13. While this ensures safety on the app, kids find new ways to outsmart the system. If a child lies about their date of birth, they will gain full access to the uncensored parts of Tiktok. This also makes it easier for strangers and predators to contact kids on Tiktok. Though North set up the profile with her mom’s “supervision”, nobody knows if Kardashian put it under the “Younger Users” section, or not.

Tiktok possesses the same harmful qualities as any other social media app. Despite Kanye’s crazy outburst on Social Media, his not wanting his daughter to use Tiktok remains plausible.
