American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift and Chiefs player Travis Kelce announced their engagement on all platforms March 31. At Long Pond studios outside of New York, Kelce executed a minuscule engagement that Swift eagerly said yes to. After several months of a publicly displayed relationship, American pop star Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce sealed the deal. With numerous rumors circulating on social media, Kelce and Swift decided to confirm the gossip through an Instagram post of Kelce down on one knee on March 31. While a portion of fans cannot contain their excitement, others show skepticism for the fairly quickly engaged couple.
“I am so, so excited that Travis and Taylor finally made it official. This engagement could be the next step to so much new music from Taylor which is super exciting. I love how it wasn’t a super-planned thing and everyone was just kind of surprised with the news. I’m so overjoyed for her,” magnet junior Olivia Doucette said.
Leaking the news through social media posts regarding her newest album “The Tortured Poets Department,” Swift executed a smooth launch of her recent relationship progression. Various pictures posted on popular news sites such as Vogue displayed images of Kelce proposing at the Long Pond recording studio. Because Swift recorded pieces of her 2020 album “Folklore” at these specific studios, Kelce felt inspired and chose the studio, as beautiful nature covers the area.
With several false speculations regarding an engagement between the two, the news of Kelce asking permission for Swift’s hand in marriage from Swift’s father became put to use. As Kelce debated over a ring with his friends, he decided on a small engagement without informing the paparazzi of the event so Swift would feel a true, personal connection and no pressure from the media.
“I love how he did it in private because that is so respectable. He probably knew that Taylor Swift wouldn’t want a whole big proposal because that might make her nervous, so he instead chose a setting that allowed her to feel comfortable. I can tell just from the pictures that they look so excited,” magnet junior Laila Sain said.
