Hidden talents
High school brings new challenges each year as students learn to handle classes and expectations. Each grade carries its own mix of pressure and growth. Together, those years build the experience that defines high school life.
The hardest year
From patching up football players to teaching about body systems, Angela Guggino, one of the key players in NC's athletics department, leads the sports medicine CTAE pathway. Students seeking careers as doctors or nurses can start training thanks to her courses in healthcare. Antwerp’s diamond district handles roughly 85% of the world’s precious rough diamonds, creating a hub loaded with wealth and intricate trading systems. In 2003, a crew led by Leonardo Notarbartolo spent a total of 28 months studying every detail of the Antwerp Diamond center, eventually pulling off one of the boldest heists in modern history. Their break-in exposed critical flaws in the vault once praised as impenetrable, sparking conversation about the security within the diamond trade.

NC’s Cross Country (XC) team races through each season with Warrior pride, and this past season proved no different. From early morning meets to long afternoon practices, the team consistently shows up and shows out, pushing each other to their personal best. Each runner's dedication exceeds expectations, only fueling the NC spirit and excellence.

Throughout her entire life, senior Andria Atkinson has enjoyed anything remotely artistic. As an aspiring art therapist, Atkinson puts her all into setting her career up for success by participating in extracurriculars both in and outside of NC. With a love for art, community and connection, the senior creates projects to gift to her friends and family.

November 11, 2025, the NC Warrior men’s basketball team faced off against the Harrison High School Hoyas in a thrilling four-quarter bout. With fans in attendance and the scorecards at the ready, the season finally tipped off in NC’s arena. Despite the one-point loss, the squad displayed extensive hustle and effort.

Each year, the ocean temperatures break record highs, affecting the way fish and other marine animals grow, reproduce and feed. The increasing temperatures also cause significant issues for aquatic habitats, specifically coral bleaching. The need for awareness around climate change increases as time passes, and represents a critical step in combating global warming as a whole.
Deep trouble: The pressure to turn the tide on rising ocean temperatures
Once a worker knows how to file their taxes, the ugly memory of all the money he or she cannot spend haunts their wallet. By understanding where each dime finds its home, that wound might begin to heal. Three major types of income taxes exist in the U.S.: Social Security and Medicare, federal income tax and local income tax, with each serving a unique purpose.

Taylor Morrow is a junior at NC and continues her journalism journey as  Media Editor this year. Morrow joined The Chant to branch out of her comfort zone and meet new people. She believes joining this class will have a lasting impact on her future. Morrow’s writing experience has improved as she usually writes fantasies and fictional stories. She typically writes about a day in the life of characters who have non-human-like powers and abilities. Morrow has four siblings and is the second oldest of her siblings. Along with watching some of her favorite TV shows, Morrow also enjoys thrifting. This year, Morrow is excited to help grow The Chant and get to know new staffers. Lidia Sidorova
Lidia Sidorova, Page Editor
Lidia Sidorova, a magnet junior at NC, is a Page Editor on The Chant. Her love for communication and research has not only driven her to the journalism program but also to the Speech and Debate team at NC, where she participates in meetings and tournaments. While maintaining her spot in the magnet program at NC, she participates in various activities as a magnet ambassador. Sidorova is active in her community and holds an internship at a local elementary school. If she is not working on her academics, Sidorova enjoys reading, playing guitar, and skateboarding. As she reaches her second-to-last year of her high school career, she hopes to share her passions, inspire her community, and educate those around her.  Find her on Instagram @lidia.s1111.
