Shoppers choose thrifting as a cheaper alternative to shopping in boutiques. Not only do thrift shops boast incredibly cheap prices for used clothing, one can also find up-to-date fashionable clothing, vintage items, and even brand-name clothing at more than half off the original price.

Park Avenue offers several opportunities to save money. On Sundays, customers receive an extra 50% off of their entire purchase as a sign of appreciation: “We get a lot of business, it’s only right to give back to the customers every Sunday with even more savings,” Park Avenue employee Juan Garcia said.

On Wednesdays, seniors over age 55 can save up to 50% on their purchases: “I love coming here Sundays and Wednesdays, you can see I am a bit old (laughs), but nothing beats the extra fifty percent off and the amount of saving and cool things I get,” Shannon Parks, a regular customer, said.

Look for signs that indicate clothing that would be half the price of the price tagged. Park Avenue Thrift Shop usually takes an extra 50% off of clothing with a certain colored tag. “Know what you are buying, the expensive ones can be worth it sometimes. I always shop in the women’s section, it’s my favorite” Ms. Ngige, who thrifts about 2-3 times a month, commented.

Thrift shops always carry items different from clothing you would see at the mall or an outlet, including things that have not been worn in years. Not only are you finding brands while shopping, you can find interesting clothing items no other person could have. “While thrifting, look for eye catching clothing items. They’ll probably be 50% off too, so you’ll get a pretty good deal” shopper Maria Benavides states.

Since Ms. Wolfe’s retirement in 2006, Wolfe and her husband thrift at least once a month traveling to different thrift shops. She primarily shops at other Goodwills and Park Avenue, “You have to dig, not just shop, and have a good eye for color and things you probably wouldn’t find in stores nowadays.” Wolfe advises. She claims Park Avenue always holds the best deals in Woodstock.
