Seniors

Today, seniors at NC showed their fellow classmates what they hope to become in the future. Students dressed up as different career choices, including teachers, nurses, or even explorers and farmers. Senior Julia Snyder plans on attending Oglethorpe University in the fall to pursue a teaching degree. “I really love kids, and Oglethorpe recently added a teaching program to their school,” Snyder said.

With four weeks left in the school year, seniors celebrated their last high school dress up week. Today, seniors dressed up as Kindergarteners, throwing it back to the start of their school years. With jean overalls, colorful socks, and high pigtails, students transformed the high school hallways to elementary school classrooms.

After two months of anticipation, students received their school ID cards during homeroom today. While the underclassmens photos will appear in the yearbook, the photographers allowed the seniors to dress in silly attire for their IDs. Senior Isabella Keaton resembled a young child and chose to put her hair into pigtails and hold up a stuffed animal for her photo. Senior Esteban Alarcon kept his photo simple, with a fitted black t-shirt and a half smile. Senior Tara Anastasoff recreated her Kindergarten yearbook photo, choosing to wear a leopard print vest and fake bangs to perfectly replicate her younger self.

Finally feeling like seniors, students queued up in the lunchroom to place their cap and gown orders and pick up staple senior swag items. Some students opted to purchase bundled packages, which included different 2019 attire and memorabilia.

The senior class met for the second time this year on Thursday, September 6. Seniors congregated in the PCA to learn about graduation details, life after high school and what their spring semester preparations will look like leading up to receiving their degrees and graduating in May of 2019. A representative from Herff Jones informed the students about caps and gowns, and they will have a table in the lunchroom on Thursday and Friday of next week for seniors to place their orders.

Overlooking the Sydney Harbor from the famed Sydney Harbor bridge, the group enjoyed the ships passing by and the view of the Opera House and downtown area. After a half-day hike around the city and across the bridge, the group huddled to view the city from the center of the 3,700 footbridge. “It was interesting to see the Opera house and bridge and all the parks but Australia felt like a normal big city. It wasnt very different than one youd see in the United States,” Magnet senior Steven Tran said.
