The Chant

Madeline Powers
Madeline “Maddie” Powers begins her career in Journalism as a sophomore at North Cobb. She joins the staff of The Chant with an early eye towards professional work in the media. Powers dreams to work as a travel journalist for her favorite magazine, National Geographic, whose vivid articles and photographs about other peoples and places first inspired her to seek a career in the field. A prolific photographer and artist, Powers enjoys in particular drawing what she calls “bohemian art,” drawing on what she somewhat jokingly describes as her “hippie” family for inspiration. Her music taste tends to be of the rock classics; she names as favorites Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones. She also maintains a passion for literature, reading the Iliad and Odyssey for pleasure. A member of Crossfire’s beach volleyball team, Powers enjoys playing in the sun and the sand.  She also wants to experience the world, citing Hawaii as among her favorite places. “This earth is incredible,” she says. With a deep passion for journalism and an eye to a future career in the field, Powers will no doubt prove a worthy addition to The Chant.
