The Chant

Shannon Rapp
Shannon Rapp is a NCHS sophomore who joined the journalism staff this semester a writer/photographer. By joining The Chant, she hopes to improve her writing skills, and express herself through her photography. Although math is her best subject—”algebra, not geometry”—Shannon looks forward towards social studies classes more than any other. She plans to major in nursing or criminal justice—despite an interest in cosmetology—and use her degree to become a pediatrician or private investigator. Outside of photography, she also makes beautiful art as a color guard—“I like to express myself with my flag, it’s like an extension of my arm.” A complete extrovert, she also participated in the drama club, thanking it for letting her “[meet] new people, especially as a Freshman, when I didn’t know many people.” Like all high school students, Shannon feels that she has significantly changed since her middle school days. Her biggest change?  “As a freshman, you believe friendship doesn’t change. You believe that the friends you have now will be your best friends forever. But in high school, you lose most of your friends, and gain a lot of new ones.” Unlike her middle school self, the present Shannon understands friendship well. When not binging Pretty Little Liars on Netflix or listening to Fall Out Boy, Shannon loves to hang out at her best friend Lily’s house. ”She’s an amazing friend… I can always depend on her to be there for me”, Lily says, “She may be crazy at times but she’s excited and its [sic] accelerating.” Profile written by Sam Smith
