William Mullinax

William Mullinax is a NC junior in the Magnet program. He loves to read books, especially in the post/apocalyptic scene and aspires to write one of his own. A lover of all animals that are reptilian or aqueous in nature, Mullinax has had experience caring for a variety of pets from snakes to fish. Currently in the process of studying all manner of science, Mullinax hopes to major in biochemistry in order to fulfill some of the conditions required to be an astronaut.

The critically-acclaimed movie “Die Hard” became a source of opposing viewpoints as to whether or not it could count as a Christmas movie due to the nature of the genre that it represents: action. Despite people saying that it does not fit the theme of a Christmas movie, it does take place on Christmas and there remains a substantial spike in viewership of the movie during the Christmas season.

Books remain a constant in the lives of everyone, expressing the authors intent through masterfully – and occasionally not so masterfully wove – stories. Dating back to 1200 BC, stories have conveyed a number of meanings, but one constant within them has always existed: their changing methods of creation. From their syntax and diction to the way the main characters interact with death, no story replicates another perfectly and not a single one retains an identical beginning. The changing nature of humans remains encapsulated in their ability to transcribe their evolving world within a book even if the book does not coincide with the real world

The independently produced video game “Beneath Oresa” takes a new perspective on the typical roguelike deckbuilding game. Instead of taking place in a 2D plane, the game allows the player to see their character and the enemies in 3D. This also includes the actions that both take in 3D in conjunction with the cards that the player uses in real-time. Though still in early access, “Beneath Oresa” shows an incredible amount of promise as a roguelike deck builder.

Pugs and toy dogs become burdened with deformities from birth when humans decide to breed them for looks instead of viable in surviving in everyday life. These pugs must not become bred due to the act of doing so remains a disservice to the pugs and seems very like a violation of these animals. The breeders who operate puppy mills should not breed any sort of dog, as they represent the lowest form of people on the Earth; therefore, their mills should close.

The first On Guard High School Fencing League (OGHSFL) competition took place October 22, and future competitions will continue until February 25. The competitions serve as an experience that remains invaluable to growing fencers by allowing them to track their progress as they improve in the sport through regulated means. These events also allow people to gain medals and awards for reaching the top of the final elimination rounds.

Political ads become a source of strife and discomfort for people no matter their setting, but more so when they perform the function of tearing down the reliability of their opponent. These ads serve as an unwelcome plight upon the populace and hold no place in a life where a person must view them in order to watch the things one actually wants to see. Thanks to the persuasiveness of the ad producers, misinformation becomes a staple when creating a political ad.

Though usually seen in laborers, quiet quitting can also emerge in students. The question that arises from the ability of students to quiet quit becomes: should students participate in quiet quitting? The ability to do the bare minimum, or even less without suffering consequences happens to remain an objective that most working people hope for, but that ability to do so does not translate to school work due to the nature of school and study. Students need to beware when chasing the goal of the bare minimum, because they may find it does greater harm than benefit in the long run for their mental health.

The new “Lord of the Rings” TV series faces backlash from angry fans about the alteration of a portion of pre-established lore. Other fans, however, look forward to a new installment in the franchise and the beautiful cinematography that the series offers. Critics do not share these conflicted feelings, and most one-sidedly agree with the fans who enjoy the visuals and the acting.

With the required usage and collection of personal laptops, a handful of students suffer dissatisfaction with the services provided by the computers and the overall functionality of the laptops. The opinion of students differs on the worth of struggling with these laptops. “Do laptops reach an equilibrium on their merits and their flaws” remains a recurring question.

WellStar Medical Center, a symbol of Atlanta, decided to close its doors as of November 1. This closure will place a heavy burden on the Atlanta medical system that may have multiple adverse effects. The hope of the community remains that the stress coming from aforementioned effects derived from the closing of WellStar, could possibly result in less of an issue than projected.

A new retro arcade relocated to Acworth from Kennesaw. Portal Pinball became a window into the past for pinball machines and older arcade games. Visitors can play any of the games, including Ms. Pac-Man and Frogger. Located just off of Cobb Parkway, Portal Pinball provides an entertaining activity for a fair price.

This year’s new Greenhouse Gang brings a greater number of flora than last year, thanks to a variety of new plants arriving at the club. All the students love playing in the dirt and cannot wait to grow the newly introduced plants such as bonsai. The members enjoy learning how plants grow by seeing their progress blossom. “Everyone is invited to join us and bring something to the garden table. The more we know, the more we grow,” NC club sponsor Susan Aughey said.
