Today kicks off the start of AP exams for students in all grades. All year, teachers and students worked tirelessly to prepare for the exams and possibly earn college credit. The schedule for today and the rest of the week differs from the regular one, because students take the exams throughout the day. Good luck to all taking an AP exam this week! Remember to eat a nutritious breakfast and receive plenty of sleep.

With AP exams just days away, students should continue studying. Any students looking to cancel their exams must do so by Friday, May 14th. Any cancellations after that date will not receive a refund. Students should also remember to take advantage of teacher-held review sessions, their College Board accounts, and any other resources their teachers may recommend.

As the end of the school year draws closer and closer, the window of time for students to prepare for their AP exams becomes increasingly minimal. The COVID-19 pandemic caused this window to close even more, by changing testing guidelines and creating new test locations for students. Students will learn more information about AP exams on April 3. “Though school has been affected by the Coronavirus, I’m just happy that we can still test and get college credit,” Magnet sophomore Reagan Schooler said.

Beginning the season of advanced placement (AP) testing, students partake in the AP psychology test today in hopes of receiving college credit for their hard work. Psychology teachers, William Hargis and Melonie Shelnutt, help guide their students to prepare for this end of the year exam. On Tuesday May 7, students will either take the AP Spanish language, algebra-based physics, or art history exam.

Students create comprehensive study cards for the upcoming Environmental Science AP exams. Filling the cards with color and keeping them organized will help exam takers study and review the content more efficiently. This year, all AP exams will take place on campus in the library, Freshmen Academy, or Performing Arts Center.

Exhausted students fall asleep in class due to the lack of sleep from vigorous studying. With the administration of AP exams and End of Course Testing, students crave the freedom of summer vacation more than ever. “I want school to end because I’m tired of doing work at school; we work really hard all semester… so I really want summer” sophomore Aaron Jodesty said.
