Since the dawn of the new millennium, technology and the way people communicate, interact and gain information continually evolves, producing efficient products and devices. From streaming to iPhones, these products provide a new, more convenient way to enjoy basic entertainment, find information, listen to music and especially interact with others. As technology continues to grow, the last 20 years in terms of technology will remind future generations that challenging the norm and finding alternatives can produce a successful product.

Today, technology gives students access to more colleges and universities. “I’m applying to five colleges. I value having choices and I don’t want to be locked into only applying to one or two schools,” Magnet senior Chandler Quaile said.

Magnet seniors Chandler Quaile and Maggie Glancy stand together questioning the disappearance of their class rank in the counselor’s office. “I emailed my counselor asking if they had access to viewing my class rank, but she told me that even the school counselors don’t have access to the class ranks anymore,” Magnet senior Maggie Glancy said. Students question whether Cobb County’s decision to remove the class ranking system will benefit them in the long run.

The college application process can generate significant stress for seniors, and students frequently worry whether their scores, grades, and achievements will earn them a place at the schools they hope to attend. “I always feel like you determine what college you want to go to depending on whether or not you know what your standing is,” senior Ngozi Ozor said.
