NC Varsity baseball comes to a bittersweet ending with NC being kicked out of the playoffs by the Newnan High School Cougars. The Warriors played in a two day series, winning one game 7-4 and losing the other two which resulted in the end of their season. However, Warriors looked forward to their banquet held on April 30th to celebrate the accomplishments achieved throughout the season.

Our ability to work as a team is great and helps us bring each other up too,” Martinez said.

Prather hopes to continue feeding his immense passion for baseball, sharing that he discovered his adoration for it in his childhood. “I wanted to play other sports when I was a kid, but once I got really focused on baseball, I just wanted to keep on playing baseball and I knew that it was what I wanted to do with my life,” Prather said.

NC Varsity Warriors celebrated a win against the Woodstock Wolverines on Tuesday, March 5. “Woodstock isn’t what they were last year and we showed them that. I felt good during the game, the team had my back and we produced when we needed it,” senior pitcher Jonathan Young said.

Baseball tryouts start this week, and the players prepare for the start of the long-awaited season. Winning “the plaque” for this season (awarded after the team reaches the first round of playoffs), rests on the players’ mind, especially because they received their last plaque ten years ago. “My goal is to have a successful season with our fearless leader, Coach Callahan,” junior Cole Wright said.
