Positive childhood memories can make up someone’s character, and potentially impact the rest of their life. An old tradition, memory or recurring event can easily return to children once they grow up, and transport them back to their childhood once again. Consistently, the reason for childhood nostalgia remains important for a childs emotional stability for them to learn behavioral expectations and prepare for their future daily lives.

Different parenting styles can immensely shape the type of person a child will become. Contextual factors and sociocultural characteristics can decline due to politically incorrect parenting. More times than not, parents tend to teeter the line of discipline and abuse. Studies show that crossing this line negatively impacts children. What one group may view as discipline, another may see as abuse. Whether a parent disciplines or abuses their child, different personalities and character types may result.

People frequently only consider child abuse as abuse if violent. Most do not know that child abuse comes in different forms from different types of people. Child abuse varies in types like verbal, sexual, physical, emotional and more. “Honestly when I was younger I thought that the only ‘abuse’ was physical. Thats what they always taught me in school. I never really realized that there were so many types of it until I watched some shows and movies. I wish I knew more about abuse when I was little because I feel like I would have been able to recognize some signs in my friends,” freshman Jack McKain said.

Rally club meets for the first time this year on Wednesday, August 21. Ran by Dr. Pamela Roach and Ms. Becky Young, the club tries to help spread awareness and raise money to help scientists find a cure for childhood cancer. The club fundraises all throughout September, childhood cancer awareness month, to help find a cure.
