With each passing day, another NC student hears the exciting news: Coach Adam Cogbill’s muffin cart has returned to the halls and courtyard of NC. With the help of Coaches Jeffrey Bettis and Matther Tener, muffin distribution has resumed, with COVID-19 safety precautions still in place. Regaining popularity from before the pandemic, the muffins need no advertisement besides three simple words: “We have muffins,” Bettis said.

As the fresh semester arises, students look to The Chant’s yearly chocolate sale fundraiser, as an energy increasing remedy. Labeled as the “World’s Finest Chocolate” students and staff can find vendors located in the newspaper office or around the 600 hallway. Each individual chocolate bar sells for $1, and vendors possess change. “I have already bought three chocolates,” magnet sophomore Emma Pearson said.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, National Honor Society (NHS) members will collect any donations from students, teachers, and their community. The donations help fund for research into the diagnosis, treatment, and cure of the disease. To donate, look for any NHS members with a purple cup or bucket.

NC defense worked intently to keep Mustangs out of the home goal. With quick footwork, the girls powered through the first half with a positive and determined mindset. “I’m proud of our defensive lineup, and the girls really worked hard against the Mustangs. We tried our best to defend our goal and the positive outlook is all I could ask for from the girls,” sophomore Adriana Irizarry said.

NC kicks off its first annual For The Kid’s Carnival, a fundraiser thats works with Miracle Hospitals across the nation. At the carnival, hosts plan to announce NC’s partnership with FTK, beginning the school’s drive to give to the charity and fund next year’s dance. The school will provide food trucks, music, and tons of fun.

All funds will contribute towards their GoFundMe and will help with the march and any left over funds will help the victims of the shooting.
