Senior midfielder Maddie Diaz scored her 100th goal in her high school career in Monday night’s game versus the Carrollton Lady Trojans. Diaz finished the game with 7 goals, and withholds an opportunity to break the single-season scoring record in NC lacrosse history. Diaz received much praise and congratulations for her achievement. “Going into Monday night’s game, I was honestly just filled with pure excitement. I was so impatient for game time to come and my adrenaline was at full force,” Diaz said.

Girls lacrosse return from spring break to face Dalton High School this afternoon with junior varsity’s fourth game and varsity’s 13th game. With the end of the lacrosse season creeping up at the end of April, the teams will inevitably take more victories along with their 7 collective wins so far. The game will be held at Dalton highschool at 6 pm.

The NC Lady Warrior varsity lacrosse team earned a hard-fought 19-8 win over the McEachern Indians on March 14. NC started the season out strong with an initial 3-0 record, including an impressive win over the reputable Etowah Eagles. However, the Warriors dropped the following three matchups. Monday night’s game marked a new beginning and set the team back on track for a successful season.

With the 2020 NC lacrosse season just around the corner, the NC girls Varsity lacrosse team prepares for their season by conditioning intensely every day, Monday through Friday. After failing to make it to playoffs this year, the Lady Warriors plan to come back stronger than before thanks to new and returning players and a stronger bond as a team.

With six yellow cards, NC gave it their all and played rough, which paid off in the end with a win. “It was a really difficult game, but everyone—especially defense—played extremely hard. There were a lot of emotions after the game watching the seniors being escorted down the field; it made the night much better,” sophomore Alyssa Curto said.

The girls JV and varsity lacrosse teams will play against the Sequoyah Chiefs tonight at 5:30 and 7:00 PM, respectively. Tonight’s home game will include a purple out, a tribute to Arielle Sterrett, a former goalie for NC’s lacrosse team who passed away last semester. The team is wearing purple jerseys with her number on the back in honor of her. “A statement will be read at the game,” coach Kathy Ezzell said.

They play at Campbell High School, battling against the Spartans. “I think it’s gonna be a good season, we just have to get it together. Our JV players are a little all over the place,” NC junior and varsity player Karen Maldonado said.
