Originally, high schools favored the traditional schedule because of its simplicity, but soon developed a stronger method for student success. The traditional block schedule serves as an opportunity for students to enroll in 32 classes, and receive the time to focus on each course. Despite minor flaws in the block method, students enjoy the change in routine, and the time they can spend on four classes rather than seven. “The block schedule helps me meet and get to know more people instead of being around the same people for an entire year. I also like getting new classes and different lunches where I can make friends that I would not have made without a change in schedules,” junior Holly Stallings said.

Entering high school as a freshman has challenged teens since high school’s very inception. Acting at the bottom of the totem pole can overwhelm even the most level-headed of fourteen-year-olds, but by knowing what to expect, freshmen feel better prepared to handle the challenges that come with this stage in life.

A fake and non-supportive friend to someone in any community may poorly impact many for a while. If one fakes support for a community, it causes a ripple effect once the supposed support comes out. Faking support leads people to rethink the qualities of a person and potentially lead to mistrust.

NC contains a great diversity of students: depending on their characteristics and personalities, every classroom could include at least one person who sleeps through lectures (The Sleepers), another that loves to talk (The Teacher’s Pets/Class Clowns), or yet another that constantly stares at their phones (The Slackers). No matter what type of stereotype group the students belong to, they play a huge part in the high school experience.

Mock weddings at North Cobb continued as a tradition through 1996 allowing students to experience a glimpse of such an eventful day. Students and staff at the time seemed to enjoy the ceremony, but NC warriors today think otherwise. “A mock wedding would feel like im getting married to a friend or a classmate so although we’re in high school there is no real connection. A real wedding should be with someone who means the most to you, it’s a time meant to be spent with family and friends, most of all the person you love” junior Chris Maclellan said.
