Classrooms have evolved to accommodate new trends including recent technology. Looking back on pictures of classrooms taken years ago compared to today, classrooms expanded throughout students’ and teachers’ careers. The atmosphere and appearance of classrooms are adapted to support a new generation. Teachers created their own classroom space and provided comfortable seating options that people do not typically see in a school.

Teens across the globe consume high levels of caffeine daily. Around one third of teenagers from ages 12 to 17 drink energy drinks regularly. Teens commonly consume the drinks in the morning, prior or during school. Sold in vending machines across campus, energy drinks regularly attract students who receive minimal sleep. Research reveals the harm that drinks with high levels of caffeine can cause on a child, and provide healthier and safer options instead.

Selling muffins as a fundraiser for an undervalued sport and club quickly turned into a dream come true for two NC teachers. The teachers sell muffins for two dollars each and plan to sell dozens more when their shop opens in the summer of 2022. The NC students will miss their beloved teachers, but support them in their ambition for a full-time muffin business.

Learning about finances helps dampen financial strife later in life. Growing one’s money through investing will help handle debts and loans, especially with student loans that can easily grow and snowball into a severe financial burden. “Financial literacy sets you up for a great future. Especially going to college and dealing with student loans, you wanna make sure you take care of those. You don’t want to be in your 50s or 60s worrying about your student loans because you didn’t set yourself up for a positive financial future,” junior Gabriel Adams said.

With each passing day, another NC student hears the exciting news: Coach Adam Cogbill’s muffin cart has returned to the halls and courtyard of NC. With the help of Coaches Jeffrey Bettis and Matther Tener, muffin distribution has resumed, with COVID-19 safety precautions still in place. Regaining popularity from before the pandemic, the muffins need no advertisement besides three simple words: “We have muffins,” Bettis said.

NC Varsity wrestlers began their annual regions tournament held at NC. Senior Jemal Kinchen wrestles off against Marietta hoping to come through with a win to put NC in the next round. Although the Warriors did not win the tournament, the athletes and coaches left with their heads held high for next weekend’s tournament.

Photos of NC’s class of 1989 showcase the graduating students. Samuel Fraundorf, a graduate in this class, now teaches students in Magnet Leadership, Sociology, and Government at NC. He returned to his alma mater, along with several other NC alumni who now work at the school they attended as teenagers. “When I was in high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do, but I never thought teaching would be something I wanted to do,” Fraundorf said. Several of the other teachers agreed but expressed satisfaction with their jobs.
