The Warriors returned home with a devastating loss after playing an intense match against Marietta. With the Blue Devils hosting senior night, the fans and players’ energy remained high during the entire game. The NC 2022 season ends the week prior to spring break, with the last game played at home against Harrison’s Hoyas. Seniors from both teams prepare to play the last games of their high school careers next week while gaining support from family, teammates, coaches and friends.

NC varsity soccer teams walk away from Marietta in defeat

The NC varsity soccer teams played their tenth game of the season against the Marietta Blue Devils Friday, March 4 with the girls winning (6-1) and the boys losing (1-7). The girls displayed impressive cooperation amongst themselves and demonstrated their talent on the field. Playing her last season on the team, Columbus State University commit Kenna Armitage (#11) savored her time on the field. “We’ll be missing her, for sure. She’s a really nice person, and we wish her the best going on in soccer and life in general. I can say that Kenna maintained a level of positivity that the team needed,” freshman Mackenzie Johnson (#21) said.

NC hosts senior night tonight for our soccer teams. The teams, especially seniors, have been working extra hard to impress their families during their games. During or in-between the games tonight, our school will honor the seniors by announcing them in some way and having most players walk down the field with their family members. “We’ve been working really hard for senior night and we’re really excited. I know some of the players families who usually don’t stay for the whole game are coming and they can’t wait to watch the games. We’re all just really excited to compete. Especially since this night is kinda meant and named after us,” senior soccer player Jordan Karim said.

Excited to play their first game, the varsity Warrior girls worked hard to improve their skills and strategies over the past three weeks. Girls varsity head coach Justin Buckles pushes his team and prepares them for the season. The girls will continue practicing and working hard as they take on teams like Walton and Harrison in the upcoming weeks.

After an early end to the 2020 NC Warrior track and field season, the athletes return and in high hopes of a great season. Various athletes play other sports and use running track as extra workouts to improve strength and endurance. As a team, they plan to run their fastest and win as many meets as they can this season.
