Today in homeroom, juniors and seniors received ticket and parking information for this year’s prom, as well as the big reveal of this year’s theme: The Golden Gala. Upperclassmen look forward to this eventful night, which will last from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at The Event Center at Opera Atlanta.

NC varsity lacrosse team will play their first game of the spring season against Pebblebrook at 6:30 p.m. tonight, February 12. For the game tonight, senior Zach Hall hopes to score four goals. “I am really excited to hopefully win our first official game after defeating the Wheeler Wildcats at our scrimmage,” sophomore Jonah McKouen said.

Eighth-grade students from Barber Middle School sit in the Performing Arts Center, listening intently while Principal Moody and Assistant Principal Williams deliver a speech about what to expect as high schoolers. The students also came for a tour of the school (hosted by TC), so as to help them better acclimate to their soon-to-be school; another set of kids from Barber came on Thursday, with their tour mostly taking them through the science and social studies halls.

Students normally enjoy their chicken breakfast sandwiches, but today, vendors surprised students and teachers with Chick-fil- A’s signature breakfast sausage sandwich. “I was surprised that they started selling sausage biscuits. I’m happy that they’re here because you have a variety and you can actually choose now,” junior Juliana Charles said. Students can find this sandwich variation outside Admin 1, which will surely fulfill the hunger of any meat-loving teenager.

Junior Tanner Corbett wore his Tom Brady sports jersey to celebrate the New England Patriots’ win during Sunday’s Super Bowl LIII. The Patriots won against the Los Angeles Rams 13-3. “I knew from the beginning the Patriots were going to win, however, I was surprised about how well the defense was played from both teams,” Corbett said.

 Tribal Connections (TC) hosted their annual Hoopcoming pep rally in the Arena on Friday, February 2. Students excitedly showed their Warrior spirit as they prepared for the basketball game against school rival Kennesaw Mountain. NC students cheered on the basketball players and showed their support for the upcoming game. Students also flaunted their own moves during TC’s Shoot your Shot activity, where hopeful romantics could aim for the basket in hopes of receiving a box of chocolates and a rose to give to their crush.

	Students came decked out in their best “Frat boy” costumes on Thursday, January 31. With  their last ever Hoopcoming week coming to a close, seniors James Craig and Emily LaPierre took their outfits to the next level, “Lots of people think Hoopcoming is kind of boring, which is why you just have to go for it so you can make it more entertaining. I do not want to graduate and not be able to say I participated in stuff like this, so I whipped out my khakis and drew a fake beard,” LaPierre said.

Cobb County school officials canceled school on January 29 due to inclimate weather threats. The sunny and above freezing temperatures tricked the county as no ice formed on the road and even though snow flurries fell, the temperature outside did not allow for it to stick.

Junior Niara Minnifield helps distribute posters for the Junie B. Jones Musical, which the theater program will perform from January 24-26. The show will take place at NC’s newly constructed Performance Art Center for only $10. The show will begin at 7:00 p.m. ,and doors will open half an hour before showtime for audience members to find their perfect seat to watch the awe-inspiring performance.

With a new season comes new gear. Starting off the season with new chrome orange helmets, the boys varsity lacrosse team eagerly awaits their first game. Head Coach John Almy hopes that the seniors will take the reins and lead the team to several victories. “I just hope to see growth from last year and see the senior class take the step up and be leaders,” Coach Almy said. The Warriors will play their first game against Wheeler on Wednesday, February 6.

Kennesaw State student teacher, Brianna Curtis and Senior Andrew Riner distributed cake to students to celebrate the band’s performance at the University of Georgia. Students enjoy the celebratory cake from their success at their trip on Friday, January 18. “We performed at UGA because we submitted a recording and they accepted us. It was fun because we got to perform in front of all these students from around Georgia,” senior Sarah Goddard said.
