End of Course Testing for math began on Monday, December 3. Students sharpen their pencils, put new batteries in their calculators, and fuel their brains as they prepare for the test day. “I’m nervous for this EOC, but I know my teacher prepared me and I studied a lot, ate a good breakfast, and got some sleep. I think I over prepared, but I know that this EOC is going to help not hurt me,” sophomore Prapti Tanti said.

NC seniors Reed Walker, Ryan Camesa, and Christine Call utilize the communitys public facilities to study for their upcoming finals and complete homework. I think this is a great place to study because its a productive working environment, especially the Quiet Zone. It just really allows me to focus and thrive academically, especially during finals, Camesa said.

Into the community we go!

The Magnet program will hold their first ever sock exchange event this year on December 18 during all lunches in the Magnet Lounge. The event allows Magnet students to meet other peers within NC through their shared admiration of socks. “The sock exchange is a really cool opportunity for students to find creative, fun, and crazy socks. You bring it into your bundle teacher and they put it in a paper bag and you explain why you chose these crazy socks. The ultimate goal is for us to get to know each other a little better and create a community within the Magnet program and I am excited to be a part of it. I’ve already gotten several crazy pairs,” AP Lang teacher Lindsey Theaker said.

Blown away by the chilly autumnal wind, students struggle to get out of their warm beds and arrive on time to class with the pouring rain. Bracing themselves with rain jackets, boots, and umbrellas, students try not to slip in the halls or catch a cold before Thanksgiving Break.

Will this rain ever stop?

To commemorate the heros that shaped America, NC celebrated with a breakfast and assembly in the auditorium, inviting veterans in the community. Banners around the room consisted of historical information to show the background of the veterans. Chrous and orchestra performed patriotic songs for the audience and veterans. “I went with Dr. Reagan’s class, and I thought it was so sweet and nice to celebrate Veteran’s Day here at NC. I would love to go next year and learn more about the veterans here in the community” junior Elizabeth Steel said.

We thank you for your service

The guidance counselors office posted the November 2018 Scholarship Bulletin for college-bound students this month. It lists various financial aid and scholarship opportunities and outlines eligibility, deadlines, and award amounts. Though available to all NC students, the Bulletin serves as an especially relevant resource for juniors and seniors preparing to apply to colleges. Students can pick up the Bulletin in the front office before or after school and between classes, and can direct any questions towards NC’s guidance counseling staff.
