Confusion and excitement sent Mrs. Lawson’s Honors American Lit class abuzz as she gave students a project to complete—except with a twist—no clear instructions, an abstract objective, and complete silence when students asked her confused questions. Students received a manila folder of supplies to construct the purpose of the project. “We picked up a manila folder with a coat hanger, string, a stick, an index card, black construction paper, and a notecard. All we know is that we have to relate the project back to the unit: Individuals Taking a Stand,” junior Aiden Minard said. Though abstract in concept, the project pushed students past their creative boundaries. “This project delves into our creativity by making us think more creatively and to better understand the theme of this unit,” junior Patrick Moran said.

Mrs. Tamara Rankerburg’s AP US History class began working on their comprehensive project today. The project involves creating a Powerpoint or Weebly to show an understanding of the causes and effects of the Great Depression during the 1930s. The students hope to finish the project by Thursday to receive an opportunity to bring up their grades in the unit test category in the gradebook.

Not depressed about their grades!

Seniors Claire Vance and Claire Phillips measured a toy cars speed and velocity for Ms. Brennans Physics class. Physics students complete a wide range of projects throughout the year, but this project stands as a class favorite. I feel like this is a very hands-on activity and gives us a visual perspective of how things we do in class act out in real life, Vance said.

Fun with physics
