Juniors Evan Chighizola and Skai Farmer practice juggling as spring approaches. Students engage in a variety of activities as the weather warms up, with juggling as a unique talent. Other activities, such as hiking and picnicking, allow students to enjoy the warmer weather. “The weather being warmer is really making everyone happier and making us want to do more of the things we love,” Chighizola said.

These four students sit around the table discussing what they did during last week’s winter break. Winter break took place from Monday the 18th to Friday the 22nd, allowing students to catch up with their friends and families, travel for college visits, relax at home, and do their homework. The next break will not happen until the first week of April.

Through the end of this week, students will take the Cobb mandated Health Survey during their first block class. Students will follow the advisement schedule to ensure that every individual has enough time to thoroughly complete the survey. Students take this survey anonymously, with the overall purpose to gather data and make sure that students feel safe both inside and outside of school.

Answer honestly, it’s anonymous

Confusion and excitement sent Mrs. Lawson’s Honors American Lit class abuzz as she gave students a project to complete—except with a twist—no clear instructions, an abstract objective, and complete silence when students asked her confused questions. Students received a manila folder of supplies to construct the purpose of the project. “We picked up a manila folder with a coat hanger, string, a stick, an index card, black construction paper, and a notecard. All we know is that we have to relate the project back to the unit: Individuals Taking a Stand,” junior Aiden Minard said. Though abstract in concept, the project pushed students past their creative boundaries. “This project delves into our creativity by making us think more creatively and to better understand the theme of this unit,” junior Patrick Moran said.

Students happily enjoyed their first three hour school day of the semester. These county-wide half days emerged last year, allowing teachers time to meet with other educators in the area and discuss lesson plans and test scores. While teachers stayed after the last bell rang at 11:30, students used the extra time to catch up on homework, take a nap, or hang out with friends.

Half-day happiness

Soaking up the sun and the first day back from break, NC students share stories about their fun-filled February vacations while enjoying the breezy weather in the courtyard. While most students stayed in state for the break, some road tripped to bordering states or flew across the country to visit friends and family. With the end of the year in sight, students used this break to rest and recharge to make sure they head into the last stretch of the school year strong.

ROTC students prepare for their Annual Military Inspection by polishing their shoes, correcting their measurements, and studying the answers for certain questions. “An admiral comes and inspects our shoes and asks us common knowledge questions… we have to go, we don’t have a choice… it’s a huge deal, ” Harrison high school sophomore Tiana Taylor said.

The barrier by the cafeteria and the ROTC room disappears and due to the barriers relocation people can now take a good look at the awesome progress from NC students. All students remained patient as they waited on this very moment for an immense amount of time. In addition, students also express excitement over what the upcoming auditorium will look like.
