NC theater students attended the 2023 Georgia Thespian Conference this past weekend to enrich their learning. Workshops and practice auditions took place, allowing students to learn new dancing, singing and acting techniques. NC students attend this conference each year and return with new knowledge and fresh experiences.

NC’s Standing Ovation takes on Thescon

Every year, NC’s thespians look forward to traveling to Columbus State University to attend Thescon. The impressive three-day convention allows participants to strengthen their theatrical resumes as they attend seven workshops and watch live shows. Although exhausting, the eventful weekend allows NC’s thespians to surround themselves with 4,000 other Georgia high schoolers who share similar talents and passions.

NC Standing Ovation Troupe 4225 made memories that will last them a lifetime this weekend at Thescon. NC theatre students united with thousands of Georgia thespians to create numerous new friendships with other actors from different schools. This weekend will forever live in the hearts of all thespians who attended in years to come. After an exhausting weekend fully equipped with acting, singing and dancing, thespians returned home with a multitude of new skills to add to their theatrical tool belts. “This was my first time going to Thescon and it was even more fun than I could have possibly imagined. I cant wait to go back next year,” NC sophomore Alyssa Maclellan said.

NC thespians eagerly await to embark on an adventure where they will indulge themselves in the world of theatrics this weekend at Thescon. With departure scheduled for 7:30 on Thursday morning, students begin packing their bags and check items off of their to do lists as they prepare to travel to Columbus, Georgia among 5,000 other Georgia thespians. “Im excited for thescon because I get to learn about theater related subjects from professionals. Its also fun to meet fellow thespians and it is a nice get away from the stress of academics,” junior Ginette Samu said.
