NC will host the last day of varsity volleyball tryouts today in the main gym from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. JV tryouts will continue until Friday, held after varsity’s from 6:30 ending at 8:30 p.m. NC will post the roster for varsity tonight and Jv’s roster on Friday at NC’s volleyball website. Coaches and all players who made the team will need to attend an informational meeting next Wednesday, May 18 in the Performing Arts Center.

NC cheerleaders started conditioning in the gym today as applications for warrior cheerleading tryouts opened along with applications for junior cheerleading. Tryouts and tryout clinic meetings will take place on April 11 through 14 at the gymnasium. Check @ncwarriorcheer on Instagram for applications and information on joining the warrior cheer team.

On the first day of tryouts, boys lined up behind the goal, practicing a defensive drill while warming up their skills. Coaches gained the chance to observe offensive players’ skills, attackers on the goal, and goalkeepers’ defense of the goal. “Tryouts were pretty good. We have a good chance of winning region this year, and maybe go a little bit deeper than state,” Varsity player and senior Luis Guadarrama said.

Baseball tryouts start this week, and the players prepare for the start of the long-awaited season. Winning “the plaque” for this season (awarded after the team reaches the first round of playoffs), rests on the players’ mind, especially because they received their last plaque ten years ago. “My goal is to have a successful season with our fearless leader, Coach Callahan,” junior Cole Wright said.

The swim tryouts held this week brought great promise and an excited new team, much larger and seemingly faster than last year’s. The freshman bringing in a new wave of experienced and talented swimmers hopefully help carry the team to state this year. “The first day of tryouts went really well and we had a giant turnout, twice as many as we had last year, and it was really a good way for all of us, new and old, to get ready for the season,” junior Katie Word said.

The 1989 Panorama “A Style of Our Own” features this photo of the Flag Corp. These ladies spin flags and march with the marching band to put a visual element to the music of the band. This week are color guard tryouts, this group uses flags, sabres and rifles to add to the music. The tryouts are from 5 to 8pm in the auxiliary gym, it’s not too late to go and try-out!
