Junior Will Webster identifies as Gay, but he does not want to conform to one label. He struggled with his identity all through middle school, and part of highschool. The acceptance of his friends and family have helped him become more open and comfortable with himself.

NC junior Will Webster began questioning his sexuality in sixth grade. At first, he did not want to believe he differed from his peers. After three years of battling within himself, he realized that others experience the same thing. He realized he could not just make his identity disappear. Will identifies as gay, but does not want to completely commit to one label.

Although most accepted him with open arms, he experienced rejection before. His freshman year, while walking through the cafeteria, another student yelled a commonly known offensive term (beginning with an F) at Will.

Despite this hurtful experience, Will feels safe and accepted among at NC.

“Will’s the type of guy who will be there for you whenever you need somebody. His smile lights people up,” his friend, junior Daniel Rodriguez, said.
