Band visits Chicago to view professional wind symphony performance
April 30, 2015
Several NC band members traveled to Chicago, Illinois on a field trip last week to explore the town and view a professional, esteemed wind symphony perform.
The band traveled to several museums, including the famous Science and Industry, Natural History, and Space. In addition, they also toured the city aquarium.
“The Museum of Science and Industry was my favorite part of the trip because it was very hands-on and it had exhibits varying from tornadoes to a mirror maze so it was impossible to be bored,” junior Lindsey Deutsch said.
The trip fostered provoking thoughts and ideas for the band’s future.
“Chicago is a fantastic city because of its history, entertainment industry, architecture, and technological developments. Chicago was a beneficial trip because of the numerous ideas and thoughts we developed through several museum tours,” senior Gavin Contreras said.
Along with the museums and tourist attractions, the band did not fail to participate in perhaps the most important Chicago experience: eating deep-dish pizza. The delicious treat proves a trademark to the city that any tourist must encounter.
“While I’m more accustomed to thin crust, the deep dish pizza was delicious. I can’t believe how much better the pizza is there than in Georgia,” junior Rileigh McCoy said.
After visiting Chicago, the NC band will use their experience for bonding and to master their crafts. For the seniors, it simply stood as the perfect ending to a memorable four years.
