Peculiar children everywhere delight in Ransom Riggs book signing
October 9, 2015
Traveling to Decatur to speak about Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children on October 2, author Ransom Riggs enchants readers with his creepy young adult trilogy.
During the event, he also spoke about his the final book in the series, Library of Souls. YouTubers Katytastic, PolandbananasBooks, and JesseTheReader accompanied Riggs on his tour. In this particular tour, Riggs only traveled to five towns, including Georgia. The event included a costume contest, allowing attendees to show off their spirit.
Riggs and the YouTubers themselves attended the event in costume. They began the night off with games, giving fans an opportunity to interact. After a few minutes of unsuccessful attempts to stump the crowd with challenging games, the hosts switched to taking questions. Hands shot immediately into the air, and attendees hoped for Jesse to run to them with the mic. Many fans almost seemed unaware of how to react with one of their favorite YouTubers so close to them, stumbling over their questions to another person they looked up to.
Later on, Riggs switched the focus to the costume contest, which ended the night with a bang. The participants shocked everyone, showing off their amazing costumes. Some took obvious effort, with their faces plastered with FX makeup. Each costume had its own special touch, letting the author know just how much they appreciated his writing.
After announcing the winners, Riggs held a signing with YouTubers Kat, Christine, and Jesse. They also called fans up in groups of twenty for a quick conversation, signing, and pictures. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will hit theaters in 2016, being directed by the legendary Tim Burton. The movie adaption will surely capture the spooky feel that the book holds and any fans of Burton’s iconic, creepy movies will surely love Riggs writing.
