Celebrating a week of festive activities, NC seniors spend their final days celebrating their accolades and creating memories with loved ones. From comical dress-up themes to collegiate spirit wear, seniors expressed their excitement for their futures through a series of honor events and commemorations. Thursday, May 1, numerous senior students recognized their accomplishments towards their future in acknowledgement of National College Decision Day.

In 1984, National Postcard Week surfaced to promote deltiology, the act of collecting postcards. This year, the week falls from May 4 to 10 in commemoration of the history of postcards. As of the middle of April, Palmer Middle School art teacher Nicole Gaut and NC visual arts teacher Karrie Arana created an assignment for their students to learn about the cultural significance of postcards in their own creative way.

With the increasing tension journalists face within their career field, the Columbia Journalism School (CJS) and The New York Times (NYT) came together Monday, April 21, to discuss the global threats directed towards these individuals. Through a nearly four-hour conversation among well-known journalists, the issues behind press freedoms revealed the need for higher levels of advocacy for future generations of journalists. The Dean of the CJS, Jelani Cobb, and the Chairman and Publisher of the NYT, A.G. Sulzberger, elaborated on how their publications have fought against journalistic oppression and spoke up about the issues journalists face under the current U.S. government.

Starting the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year, two student leaders invested their time into creating a club that aids English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) to build up a community of mentors and mentees. The Bridge the Gap club earned its spot as an NC club in late March to begin this program of mentorship. The upcoming club utilizes English-learning students with English-speaking student tutors to ultimately build new connections and bonds with high school students while also developing the vital language.

Tuesday, April 29, the NC boys volleyball orange team (3-10) faced Creekview High School for the last home game of the 2024-2025 season. With numerous mistakes on both sides of the court, the match remained at a constant neck-and-neck. Though the Warriors fought their hardest for a win, they could not pull through against the Grizzlies, sadly ending the season for the boys.

	Despite the controversies surrounding credit scores, the system ultimately impacts how people financially interact with the world, no matter their stage of life. While young people enter adulthood without a credit score, even minuscule actions can begin to impact how lenders view them. From those terrified to touch a credit card to their friends knee-deep in student loans, understanding the definition of credit scores, how to check them and ways to alter them will only ease the plunge into adulthood.
