The award-winning voice of North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Georgia.

The Chant

After being announced a 2014 National Scholastic Press Association Online Pacemaker finalist, The Chant spends some time to reflect on its drastic evolution in a matter of seven and a half months. From quadrupling viewership to beefing up stories with creative additives, The Chant has grown to earn national and now international recognition.
“Look at this incredible change that we have made…. Look at all of this. Everyone says ‘start small,’ adviser Lindsay Kovel said. “We changed everything!...and look at where we’ve come.”

On her way back to class, junior Riley Swab stops by the Future Shop to take a look over the numerous college pamphlets and folders that NC placed there. “There’s a lot of colleges that I’ve gotten information about that I probably wouldn’t have looked up,” she said. “It’s just easier to drop by and get information so I think it’s cool North Cobb has this.” NC will be hosting a college visit from Shorter University tomorrow, March 10.

While waiting to check out her son, sophomore Patrick Roberts, Kimberly Roberts indulges in a wall dedicated to the figures of African American history. “I think it is important recognize the people that are genuinely good. Frederick Douglass was a good man,” Roberts said. “Some of my favorite quotes are from him….We should continue to teach our children about great people like him. These are the people our kids need to emulate.”
