Over the years, society constantly pushed relevant Native American issues aside. At NC, teachers have started to delve deeper into current Native American cultures and life, preparing the future generation to solve these problems. “We’ve made a push, especially in multicultural literature which is a senior-level class, to really dig into the issues that they have faced throughout history and that they are still facing today which I think is a more important issue thats completely covered up,” Ms. Yeganegi said.

Ms. Rankenburg’s 3rd period class is hard at work on one of their final assignments for AP US History: writing a song. “We’re taking a song and putting our own lyrics over it about American History. Everyone has a theme; my theme is wars, so our song is about all of the wars,” junior Tess Thompson said. In addition to writing their songs, the students will make videos to go with them. “It’s a lot of fun,” Thompson said.
