Senior Sally Murtadhi shines through her artwork and bubbly personality while she serves as an excellent role model to students.

Murtadhi dedicates her free time to art and community service, which makes her an exceptional student inside and outside the classroom.

“Sally’s art reflects her positive personality and delves deeper into her mind than what most people think,” senior and class president Mahagony Williams said.

Murtadhi displays skill in each of her pieces, which convey her likes and dislikes. North Cobb’s own art show featured her work on several occasions, earning her a reputation as a skilled artist.

“Her art is very different and expresses her ideas in a very modern way that other students can relate it. It’s amazing,” senior Isabelle Martinez said.

Sally’s work varies from paintings, drawings, to even abstract photography. She states that she enjoys painting the most, as it became a hobby of her’s at a young age. Since then, she never set the paint brush down.

“My dad introduced me to painting when I was five. He’d take me to his work and I’d paint while he would work.  My dad is also a photographer, so that influenced my passion for art. My favorite thing about art is that it’s really relaxing and gets me in my zone. It allows me to express myself in a way words can’t. I really enjoy drawing nature. I don’t know, I’m just really obsessed with the Earth I guess. And I like drawing big hair,” Murtadhi said.

Besides art, Sally takes an active role in her community. She volunteers at various programs, and has even protested against violence in Egypt. She also challenges herself through NC’s rigorous AP classes. Murtadhi plans to start a human rights club at the school and eventually join the Peace Corps.

“She takes great interest in what she learns, not just to the surface; she wants to know more,” Mrs. Lawson, AP Lang and Honors American Lit teacher, said.
