Everybody loves tasty Mexican food, and Chuy’s provides just that ever since it opened this summer on July 29th.

The new restaurant boasts a delicious menu earning it a wide range of customers. Its unique decor and perky theme create a mood suitable for everyone and its unique taste and eager staff offers customers a great dining experience.

However, be careful while ordering because not all of Chuy’s food items fulfill their expectations.

“Chuy’s was good, but it was too expensive for the quality of the food,” senior Jack Dimmett stated.

One unique aspect Chuy’s holds is their famous green chile sauce. Most Mexican restaurants do not offer this spicy and flavorful sauce, which makes Chuy’s stand out. Even their menu displays creativity; few restaurants sell “big as yo’ face” burritos. Their staff, though eager to serve, may seem slightly lost. I did not actually receive a menu until about 15 minutes into my dining experience. However, it was hard to stay mad at an enthusiastic and amicable waitress.

Even though the new facility consists of eye-catching decorations, some visitors were puzzled about the displays. “Chuy’s was interesting, but it had a confusing atmosphere”, senior Jack Dimmett dished.

Anyone can attest that Chuy’s is definitely becoming one of the more popular restaurants in the Kennesaw-Marietta area. It earns its high reputation from the free nacho bar. The nacho bar, which is only open until 7 pm, automatically earned my affection. It was fully equipped with nacho cheese, sour cream, lettuce, refried beans, beef, chicken, salsa, and specialty sauces. I can easily say that after refilling my cheese bowl five times, I was in dire need of a trip to the gym.

“The food, though spicy, was really good. I really enjoyed the complimentary nacho bar, even though there was only one for a pretty large restaurant,” senior Amelia Seay commented.

For the main course, I ordered the Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom enchiladas. It was stuffed with oven roasted chicken, cheese, boom-boom sauce, lime juice, tomatoes, onions, and green chiles. While my order was quite tasty, senior photographer Sydney Dyke did not share the same experience. She ordered a taco salad, and was quite dissatisfied with her results.

“The taco salad I ordered was not what I expected it to be. All it basically consisted of was lettuce in a chip-shaped bowl. It had no taste,” Dyke complained.

Chuy’s Mexican restaurant stands as nice spot to have a decent meal. While the cuisine may not be five-star, it is definitely enough to satisfy the average student. If given the option, I would definitely return to Chuy’s, but if I were made to choose between Chuy’s and another Mexican restaurant,  I would probably choose the latter.
