December 13, 2019
With the holidays arriving, Georgians look for different ways to celebrate the jolliest time of the year. Fortunately, a vast amount of holiday activities have sprouted all around the city of Atlanta, offering new and fun experiences for the whole family.
International Winter Wonderland
This event offered in downtown Atlanta features two attractions inspired by different cultures and their holiday celebrations. The Chinese Lantern Festival exhibits beautifully made lanterns that fit a different theme each year. This year’s theme, “Into the Wild”, includes lanterns shaped like a variety of animals from land to sea. The other viewing at this event comes all the way from Germany: the Christkindl Market pulls from centuries of tradition to bring a scaled-down replica of the market found in Europe. Both of these events offer visitors food, interactive activities and entertainment from each culture.
Christmas at Stone Mountain/Snow Mountain
As one of Georgia’s most iconic landmarks, Stone Mountain offers numerous special events during this time of year with various attractions: live entertainment, scenic railroads, 4-D movies and Christmas tree lighting ceremonies. On the other side of the park, Snow Mountain takes over the whole area with fake snow piling up at every corner. Guests can build snowmen, take part in snowball fights and go tubing down different snow-covered hills.
In the age of Instagram and other social media platforms, people want to find a perfect “insta-worthy” picture. To solve this issue, a great number of interactive museums opened their doors: these museums include all kinds of immersive exhibits where guests can pose in a certain way to take the perfect picture. In this Christmas themed museum, guests can enter an eye-catching world full of all kinds of Christmas decor. From a wintery forest to a Christmas of the past and future, the experience offers a great and fun time for everyone.
Known for its intricate and awe-inspiring displays, the award-winning Atlanta Botanical Garden decks out for Christmas with colorful light displays overhaul on their preexisting artistic botanical sculptures. Apart from their holiday displays, the garden also offers s’more-building stations, new music and other holiday experiences sure to put one in the holiday spirit.
With all these pop-ups and events around town, holiday fun awaits at every corner. So venture out there and have a holly jolly time. Happy holidays North Cobb!
