Humans for Humans creators senior Sally Mutardhi and senior Arsheen Kour, with the help of  10th grade Honors and AP World History teacher Ms. Galloway, held their first meeting January 13th and will continue to meet every other Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30.

“I was really excited when Arsheen and Sally came to me about forming a club for humanitarian action and discussion, I think it’s a wonderful thing for young people to meet and discuss problems and solutions to global issues,” said Ms. Galloway.

Mutardhi and Kour’s intentions behind the club are their strong passion for human rights where students can freely discuss current events in today’s world.

The meeting held on Tuesday January 27 had 18 students attending.

“I want to make a difference in someone’s life. Even if it’s a small amount, I decided to take action and teamed up with my friend Arsheen and created this club,” said Mutardhi.

The club holds no boundaries on who can join. Mutardhi and Kour hope that Humans for Humans inspires a large amount of students to open their minds and provide assistance to others.

“I just want kids my age to realize that they are the future, and if we don’t take action the world will only get worse,” explained Mutardhi.

The club also aims towards  awareness of on going world issues.

“We create lists of issues that are happening right now all around the world, and discuss things that are happening in our local area so we can see what we can do to make a change,” said Kour.

As one of Humans for Human’s projects, they recently began researching ways to they can help the homeless in Atlanta and will continue to discuss such plans at their next meeting.
