North Cobb welcomed Mrs. Kolen, wife to former administrator Dr. Colon, as the newest administration hire. Kolen hopes to help fodder a healthy environment, act as a positive role model for students, and learn as much as possible in her new role.

“I want to learn as much as I can so I can be a better administrator next year and all the following years,” Kolen said.

Dr. Colon assisted Mrs. Kolen in making her choice to work at North Cobb. He guided and mentored her to reach her full potential as an administrator.

“My choice to work here at North Cobb was influenced greatly by my husband because of all the wonderful things I would hear from him, and I admire the leadership here as well as the teaching staff. My husband committed himself to guiding me, so who could say no to that?” Kolen said.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith, ahem--Dr. Colon and Mrs. Kolen-- could be considered a power couple in the administrative world, with their matching walkie talkies and similar ideology for helping students.

A newly instated administrator,  Kolen admits that she has a lot to absorb coming to a new school, but she finds support in her surroundings here in North Cobb and at home.

“Because of the administration team here and my husband’s guidance, I have not felt alone at all. They have been so supportive. I get long distance support from home, as well as help from administration here,” Kolen said.

Since Dr. Colon’s retiring, Mrs. Kolen has taken over his job and his responsibilities as a NC administrator, specifically in the testing area. She oversees all of the testing that takes place in North Cobb, which includes all end of course tests (EOCTs), as well as planning for various events such as the Multi-Cultural event and Honors night. After previously working at Garrett Middle School, she feels she has a strong connection to students in general, which she hopes will help her stand out among the Warrior Nation.

“Mrs. Kolen seems incredibly nice. She’s friendly and always has a smile on her face whenever I see her in the hallway. I’m excited to have her as a new administrator, and I’m sure she’ll be great for the Warrior Nation,” senior Travis Onyima said.
