The Lokal’s location in Legacy
November 1, 2017
Over the summer, Legacy Park lost its nearby restaurant, Legacy Grille, effectively demonstrating that barely any restaurant establishment can survive in that site for more than five years.
In its place, The Lokal, a new and upcoming concept restaurant, owned by Christian Valvo, who also successfully runs Pisanos in Downtown Kennesaw, opened up shop this past September. Upon walking in, the atmosphere of the restaurant feels like a typical sports bar, although despite the bar in the restaurant, the Lokal feels welcoming towards families.
The restaurant’s service exceeded my expectations. Drinks came out almost immediately after ordering them, and the food only took 10-15 minutes to come to our table. Since the drinks and food came from the kitchen to our table so quickly, we got the chance to eat slower and enjoy the meal.
The food amazed me. I ordered the Black and Blue Burger and the Five-Cheese Mac-n-Cheese. The flavors in my meal complemented each other, both cooked phenomenally with excellent flavor.
The previous restaurant located in this building, Legacy Grille, closed within a year of opening, but hopefully the Lokal will last longer. Valvo made the venue look more spacious, including more dining options and making it more family-friendly.
The Lokal also includes more variety in their menu, expanding the quality and taste. They offer many different appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and entrees, including: Sirloin Steak (entree), Pecan-Encrusted Grouper (entree), Salmon Spinach Salad (salad), Grilled Cheese Bites (appetizer), Philly Cheesesteak (sandwich), and more.
Valvo plans great things for the Lokal’s future, hoping to remove the bar and relocate it downstairs. This would give more space upstairs for a larger kitchen and dining area and separate the people drinking from children eating lunch or dinner. Overall, the Lokal resides as a great, casual family restaurant with excellent service.
