Annual Taste of Kennesaw brought family fun despite the cold
November 6, 2019
The annual Taste of Kennesaw took place in downtown Kennesaw this past Saturday, November 2; the event began at 11 a.m. and ended at 6 p.m. A variety of local businesses and restaurants participated in hopes to self-promote and attract potential customers. Colombian Bites, Honeysuckle Bakery and Frozen Cow Creamery served samples of their dishes, with their relatively convenient location bringing in new customers. Family and friends walked around downtown tasting a handful of delicious treats and samples.
The event held live music and entertainment, which created the perfect environment for children and adults to relax and take in the sights. Children eagerly participated in rock climbing and jumping on inflatables, while parents enjoyed the live music and watched dancers perform.
“My family and I always enjoy coming to the Taste of Kennesaw because there’s always something for everyone in the family to enjoy,” NC senior Yuritzy Farias said.
NC students also volunteered to run their annual booth, sponsored by Tribal Connections (TC), a community service and student government club. The NC booth sold snacks and drinks for 1 dollar each and provided free face painting.
“My final year working at the NC booth was super fun. As a senior, I got to spend my last Taste of Kennesaw with some of my closest TC friends who have participated in this event every year,” NC senior and TC member Jennifer Dang said.
The Taste of Kennesaw benefited five local charities including Shop with a Mustang (Kennesaw Mountain High School), Shop with a Warrior (North Cobb High School), Shop with a Longhorn (Kell High School), American Legion Post 304 and Jerry Worthan Community Christmas Fund by asking for donations at the booths. Students of NC also raised 2,200 cans for the school’s annual canned food drive, donating to those in need.
“We brought in all of the cans that students raised the last couple of weeks and donated them to our local food bank,” NC senior Tanner Corbett said.
The Taste of Kennesaw brings together the community of Kennesaw to enjoy delicious food, live music and entertainment and make donations to those in need. People continue to show support for their community and local businesses by joining together on this eventful day.
