With the holidays right around the corner and the ongoing pandemic on the rise, Christmas will look quite different this year. Instead of gathering with extended family around a table full of food, people will enjoy the holidays at home and in quarantine! This December 2020 movies can most certainly replace the normal Christmas events.
This December, Gal Gadot appears once again as a classic DC character, Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman 1984, a sequel to the first Wonder Woman movie the Amazonian Princess will arrive on the big screen. Ahead of its Christmas release in theaters and on the streaming service HBO Max, a select group of movie critics viewed the DC comic book sequel at home or in theaters and offered their thoughts.
Critics described Disney Pixar’s Soul as a “music-filled celebration of life.” This stunning and highly imaginative Pixar piece, teaches viewers about the true art of jazz. Joe, a middle-school band teacher who loves jazz, travels to another realm to help someone find their passion, soon discovering what it means to possess soul.
Netflix’s The Prom incorporates levels of comedy, musicality, and romance to piece together a top-notch movie. In this film, a troupe of comedic self-obsessed theater stars swarm into a small conservative town in Indiana. This troupe aims to support a high school girl who wants to take her girlfriend to the prom.
The whimsical and creative holiday movie Jingle Jangle took the place of the top pick on Netflix during this November and December. In this film, an imaginary world comes to life in a holiday tale of an eccentric toymaker, his adventurous granddaughter, and a magical invention that possesses the power to change their lives forever. The film begins as a new Christmas story told by a grandmother from a huge book with intricately spinning gears on the cover. A shop owner named Jangle keeps a whole notebook filled with designs for his enchanting toys and a store called Jangles and Things filled with happy customers. Nevertheless, Jangle realizes that his life may take a turn for the worst.
“A sprawling musical extravaganza whose candy-colored, dandily overstuffed revelry spills over with joy and jubilance and every other happy J-word,” said Lea GreenBlatt of Entertainment Weekly.
Several people would describe The Christmas Chronicles 2 as a fun to watch family movie that almost guarantees viewers a holly, jolly Christmas this 2020. Unhappy over her mom’s new relationship, a now-teenage Kate runs away and lands at the North Pole, where a naughty elf plots to cancel Christmas. Although it does not capture as much magic as the original Christmas Chronicles, The Christmas Chronicles 2 serves up a sweet second helping of holiday cheer that makes the most of its marvelously matched leads.
Released December 11th, Wild Mountain Thyme sets a romantic tone for the holiday season. In Wild Mountain Thyme, a pair of star-crossed lovers in Ireland get caught up in their family’s land dispute. The headstrong farmer Rosemary Muldoon sets her heart on winning her neighbor Anthony Reilly’s love. However, Anthony seems to have inherited a family curse, and remains oblivious to his beautiful admirer!
The Croods: A New Age, released November 25, 2020, certainly makes the must-see movie list. This fun family film features the prehistoric Crood family previously shown in The Croods in 2015. In this film, the family discovers an idyllic, walled-in paradise that meets all of their needs. Unfortunately, they must also learn to live with the Bettermans, a family that far exceeds the Croods on the evolutionary ladder. The two families must learn to work together to defeat an even more powerful threat.
Coming in ninth place and released in late November, Superintelligence. When an all-powerful Superintelligence chooses to study average Carol Peters, the fate of the world hangs in the balance. As the A.I. decides to enslave, save or destroy humanity, all odds lead to Carol to prove that she can still save humanity. This movie, starring comedy icon Melissa McCarthy, definitely makes the must-see list this December 2020.
Released fairly recently on December 10th, Let Them All Talk starring Meryl Streep topped the charts! This rom-com presents an author who, while traveling to accept a prestigious award, aims to reconnect with her friends and work on her new manuscript — but comes to realize that her relationships with both seem more complicated than she expected. Rotten tomatoes gave Let Them All Talk a 92% rating and the film received a plethora of amazing reviews.
