As 2023 brings surprises, there comes along evolutionary makeup products. These products contain formulas perfected for every skin shade, texture and firmness. Whether this means a beautifully pigmented blush or a unique contour stick, makeup products have brought a flash of excitement to beauty gurus this year. With each new product, consumers might find difficulty identifying the worthiness of the investment.

Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer

This primer gained a majority of its popularity from TikTok due to its ability to create an effective stickiness so one’s makeup lasts all day long. The product also provides great moisture leaving skin glowy and radiant. Makeup artists have found an affordable duplicate for this product which apparently works just as well. The e.l.f. Power Grip Primer smoothes skin while helping the makeup last longer.

“I used the Milk Hydro Grip primer because I knew I was going to be out all day so I wanted my makeup to last. And my makeup looked the same from when I first applied the primer. This also left my skin with a dewy finish and I haven’t stopped using it,” junior  Kayla Pierre-Paul said.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Liquid Foundation

Mattifying products have gained popularity in the beauty world ever since 2015. This foundation won the award of one of the best full coverage foundations. The 50-shade range of this product also makes it a fan favorite, since inclusive products appear crucial in today’s society.  Moreover, it took Rihanna, a music superstar, to develop long-standing beauty brands to acknowledge the diversity in deeper skin tones. Since the launch of the matte foundation, Fenty Beauty now offers a hydrating formula.

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

Although Selena Gomez released this blush in 2020, it recently gained popularity in 2023 through TikTok. This product contains 11 shades with gleeful names such as “Happy” and “Joy”. Gomez made sure to create a blush free of parabens, sulfates and mineral oils—making this blush an excellent choice for those with sensitive skin.

“Selena Gomez’s heavily pigmented blush works for pretty much anyone. When I usually wear liquid blush it’s hard to blend but she created a really creamy formula that made it so pretty on my skin. I really love the packaging, along with the heart-shaped indent,” Pierre-Paul said.
