Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce break up after Super Bowl loss

After almost two years together, football player Travis Kelce and popular musical artist Taylor Swift announced their break-up. The infamous drama between the two began before the 2025 Super Bowl, where Swift claimed to get the “ick” because of the Chiefs’ loss. Fans are shocked to find out about the separation due to various speculations of cheating and toxicity between the two.

March 31, Taylor Swift, a popular music artist, and Travis Kelce, a professional American football player for the Kansas City Chiefs, announced their break-up. The couple began dating in the summer of 2023 after Kelce attended one of Swift’s “Eras Tours.” The downfall of the relationship began a while before the February 9, Super Bowl event. Swift recalls the time period, stating that as the Super Bowl event came closer, Kelce grew colder and began icing Swift out.

Kelce began to practice every day for the Super Bowl, and in his downtime would go shopping for his Super Bowl-win outfit. The absence of Kelce in many homes of Swift brought her to attempt to get his attention back to their relationship. After various attempts to rekindle their passion and love for each other, the two ended up still arguing and bickering nearly every day.

“[Travis] became so cold and isolated the weeks before the Super Bowl. I get that it’s a big deal for him but he’s not even that good and I don’t understand how he is apparently unable to have a work-life balance and make time for his girlfriend. That hair transplant he got does not mask his true personality underneath, it doesn’t even look good. After the Super Bowl, I saw him in his shiny get-up and I knew this relationship would never work out, his ego is simply too big,” Swift said.

Following the Super Bowl event, after Swift was infamously boo-ed at, she reported that Kelce had gotten upset with her for coming to the game, and stated that she “ruins his public image.” Sources state that Swift had been suspecting cheating from Kelce, though the scandals are not confirmed as journalists attempt to discover Kelce’s relations with various supermodels.

A majority of fans support the break-up, stating that now Swift will be able to write more music from her recent heartbreak. In addition, fans state that Swift was emotionally manipulated to stay in the relationship, and could not let her “divine feminine” fully thrive. Kelce fans also support the break-up, stating that now Kelce can be entirely focused on “da game” instead of splitting himself into a useless “work-life balance”.

“Taylor was very clingy when we were together. I remember the day after the Superbowl, she came to me and said I was not worthy of her attention or time, and that I needed to focus on my own sports journey to actually get better. I totally disagree, I think we worked as a team with her songwriting and my footballing. But it’s fine, there’s plenty more fish in the sea, especially for a guy like me,” Kelce said.

The couple continues living together until their lease ends, April 30, leading to an awkward next month together. Swift plans to continue her creative process, fueled by the separation. Sources claim that she is in the process of creating a new album called “Football Failure” and will release the album May 4, 2026.
