Out of three insects, bees, flies or wasps, each one produces a unique sound. Considering the tone, tolerability and pitch of each, the fact of the matter stands. The buzz of bees wins by a landslide. The incessant buzzing of Flies and intimidating nature of wasps ruins their chances at competing with bees. Ultimately, bees win: their docility, beauty and calming buzz blows Flies and wasps out of the water.
The tolerability of a sound heavily relies on its pitch and tambour. The buzz of bees rings at a crisp C, or 200 hertz, well known for its soothing effect on the ears. Meanwhile, Flies buzz at a nagging A flat and wasps at a slightly out of tune E natural, both of which unsettle the ears and create a jarring effect on the human nervous system. So, while Flies and wasps unsettle people and leave them in a state of unease, bees provide comfort and a soothing sensation.
On top of the pitch of each sound, the approachability of each insect factors into the enjoyment as well. A pest, or an irritating, typically small creature perfectly describes the nature of Flies. With their incessant nagging around food and areas they generally should not reside, the buzz of a fly does not provide the same soothing effect as that of a bee. Again, wasps, considered intimidating by all, do not provide the same enjoyment as the jovial buzz of a bee. Cute, fuzzy bees not only help the environment but also hold a reputation as the cutest insect and seem exceedingly approachable, with almost no one disliking them. So even though people claim that flies and wasps compete well with bees in terms of the sound of their buzz, the pestering existence of a fly and the scary nature of wasps kicks them out of the running altogether. Therefore, wasps and Flies lose drastically to bees on yet another factor.
“Honestly, wasps are the worst, no one wants a wasp near them or in their house. So any sound they would make can never be enjoyed by anyone sane. As for Flies, they are just so annoying, always somewhere they should not be. Like your living room or all up in your food. Every time I hear a fly, it irks me because I know I will not be able to find it. But bees? They are just so cute. So small and fuzzy, I love them, and the sound they make is really calming in a way,” sophomore Hamadi Haggari, said.
Ultimately, bees claim their victory. With their cute and approachable nature and soothing buzz, everyone loves bees. But Flies and wasps remain unlovable due to their behavior and odd appearance. Bees take the cake in approachability, sound and looks, rocketing them to first place in a landslide win against the other two insects.
