Huey Luey’s tex-mex eats now serves Kennesaw
February 10, 2015
A conversion of the old Ruby Tuesday’s restaurant on 41 created plenty of buzz about the newest business to take over, Huey Luey’s tex-mex cuisine.
Our delightful waitress, completely attentive and fun while full of energy despite the late night, knew the menu genuinely well. I have never been particular about how my server acts, so her personality served as a nice addition. We sat directly beside the server station, and even though we could see the servers “hanging out,” they all still diligently did their jobs. Despite the restaurant being fairly busy, our food arrived timely, and we received our drinks and appetizers almost immediately upon arrival.
Senior Jessica Sloan loved her experience: “Huey Luey’s was very good, and they had many diverse options of what to choose. I got Barbecue Tacos with cheese, and they were very good and not at all spicy, so I was very happy about that. The atmosphere was also very interesting and cool.”
Huey Luey’s rebuilt the old Ruby Tuesday’s location nearly from scratch, the job proving fantastic visually. They set the restaurant into sections; making the space feel intimate whilst still housing plenty of patrons. The outside section flowed flawlessly into the rest of the restaurant, and the upper level added a nice addition to the aesthetic.
The six dollar pricing on plain cheese nachos felt unnecessary, as did most of the prices. The price just did not equate the product. Personally, the authenticity of Mexican cuisine never impacts my restaurant experience, but overall, the food proved unexceptional. I simply would not go back just for the food, especially due to the prices.
Huey Luey’s met expectations, but overall did not serve a mind-blowing or revolutionary experience. I would recommend a visit. Food enthusiasts might be better off visiting competitors. Honestly, go for the curiosity, and revisit for the excellent service and decor.
