Magnet student junior Gina Lee continues to impress teachers and classmates with her contagious work ethic and well-rounded personality, while maintaining academic success.
“Gina is an all-around great person. She is not only dedicated to her studies, but also her extracurricular activities. I truly admire her success in balancing everything going on in her life,” junior Ashton Husbands said.
Lee currently holds a 4.0 unweighted GPA, while maintaining an impressive 4.58 weighted GPA. She strives for success in various AP courses and plans to finish junior year with twelve AP credits. Lee’s motivation finds basis in her high aspirations of attending an Ivy League University after graduation. Despite originally setting her dreams on becoming a lawyer, Lee discloses increasing interest in the engineering field.
“AP Calculus BC is one of my favorite classes this year. I enjoy the challenges the class provides me with, and not to mention I have a great teacher! Mrs. Stephen motivates me to work hard through constructive criticism, which I love. She holds high standards for me, which encourages me to work hard in her class,” Lee said.
While some Magnet students remain outrageously stressed with their course load, Lee exhibits a calm composure, never allowing herself to succomb to academic pressures. In addition to maintaining success in the classroom, Lee participates in a wide variety of extracurricular activities.
She enjoys playing instruments such as the guitar, piano, and flute, and volunteering her time as a keyboard player on her church’s worship team. Lee also works as a member of the NC Relay For Life team and participates in other school clubs. However, this dynamic student’s passion lies in dancing and serving as an assistant ballet teacher whenever possible.
“Dance is what keeps me sane. I love the fact that it is unique too and for each person. Because of that, the only person I can compare to and compete with is myself. I believe that if you do something, you should do it well and never half-heartedly,” Lee said. “I am so passionate about dance because it serves as my daily stress reliever and allows me to utilize my talent to glorify God.”
Lee, a brilliant student standing at the top of the junior class rank, remains admirable to her classmates. She exhibits leadership qualities both in the classroom and in the community. In addition to fostering an endless supply of internal motivation, Lee credits her teachers and peers for their support. She remains a role model through her genuine attitude and academic achievements.
“Gina is easily one of the best students I have ever taught! I’ve had her in my class twice and I love how she always has a smile on her face,” APUSH teacher Tamara Rankenburg said.
