The city of Kennesaw welcomed new delicacies in the form of pot pies in late August. Expanding from their first location on the Marietta Square, Paul’s Pot Pies has served the Marietta area for the last 26 years and amps excitement to expand their delicious business into Kennesaw.

The new location, at 2750 Jiles Road, opened for business two weeks ago, but still awaits their official debut: “We’re still waiting on the official ribbon cutting, which will probably happen next weekend. That way we can get the mayor involved and get the word out about our new location,” Chef Paul Lubertazzi commented.

The new location comes off as nondescript, but the building’s size does not account for the taste of the pies. Only accessible by keycard, all pies are stored in a refrigerated room behind a secure door. A large chalkboard menu displays the pies for the day, with choices ranging from chicken and turkey to jambalaya and beef stroganoff.

With the knowledge that I plan to entertain Friday night, pot pies seemed like the perfect dinner dish. For variety, I purchased a turkey pot pie and a chicken curry pot pie. Pies remain avaliable in 6 inch or 10 inch sizes and each pie comes straight out of the freezer, decorated with a crust-shaped flower on the top.

After an agonizing hour in the oven, the pies were finally ready for consumption. I started with the turkey pot pie. Filled with turkey breast, cranberries, corn, green beans, and dressing, the first bite brought me back to Thanksgiving. The warm mix of the turkey and the cranberries juxtaposed salty and sweet in an artful way that left me craving more.

My second slice, the chicken curry pot pie, immediately took the spot of my top favorite. What I assumed would just contain chicken with spices stood as a mixture of vegetables with basmati rice. The spice did not overwhelm, as it sometimes can, and worked to complement the vegetables and chicken nicely. Needless to say, I finished the piece quicker than expected.

Each six inch pie costs $9.00 while the ten inch pies are $25.00. I ordered two, ten inch pies for a group of six people, and plenty remained as leftovers. The price seems slightly daunting at first, but the taste and size of the pies justifies the steep price in the end.

The restaurant’s catering service stands as another bonus of the store. Paul’s Pot Pies delivers throughout Metro Atlanta and the suburbs of the city. Lubertazzi reflects, “Paul’s Pot Pies practices the lost art of customer service. Twenty-six years in the catering business in metro Atlanta is a rare accomplishment, and we owe our long life to our customers who keep coming back again and again.”

For the price and the quality of the pot pies, Paul’s Pot Pies becomes an easy go-to dinner for me. Their new Kennesaw location serves as a blessing we can all partake in. For more information, check out their website at www.paulspotpies.com.
