The NBA begins its return within the month and the eastern conference looks completely changed with several free agency moves and trades, the top three teams of the conference; the Milwaukee Bucks, defending champions Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers, look loaded and charged for another year of intense competition between one another.

Magnet senior Olivia Doucette serves as a role model in her community through her acting, singing and volunteering. The young actress stands as a key figure in NC’s Standing Ovation and proves that she will attain the undoubtedly bright future ahead of her. Doucette plans to attend the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia next fall and looks forward to the upcoming chapters of her life.

With the support of his family and teammates, he hopes to end his final season playing for NC’s varsity boys lacrosse team (7-0) with a bang.

Cherishing their undefeated streak, the Warriors hope to continue the season with victorious matches and undeniable team spirit.

Originally playing two sports, soccer and basketball, Kirkland decided to join the soccer team her sophomore year and chose to quit basketball her junior year to focus on soccer. She continues to grow her skills at every practice and game, intending to improve her talent.

Darwin Kamau, a junior at NC, joined The Chant to hone his love for writing and investigative skills. He loves writing about current issues, sports, and pop culture. By joining The Chant Kamau hopes to form new friendships, learn from his peers, and share his interests while showcasing his writing abilities. Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, Kamau moved to Georgia in 2016. Having to acclimate to a new school and country, Kamau learned how to overcome adversity, and utilizes that skill in whatever challenges that come his way. When not writing, Kamau enjoys listening to music, watching sports, reading fiction, spending time with friends, and visiting new places with his family.
