McEachern reminds Warriors who runs the region
Following a pre-game ceremony that featured fireworks, skydivers, and a live national anthem, the Warriors fell to “mighty” McEachern, who lived up to the title, 35-0.
“Games like this happen,” Coach Queen said after the game. “But we’ve still got a chance to host a playoff game and that hasn’t happened around here in a long time.”
After a scoreless first quarter, the Indians reeled off 35 unanswered points over the final three periods to establish themselves as the front-runner to win region four.
Sophomore linebacker Trey Urquhart highlighted the Warrior defensive effort with three sacks.
Although the Warriors currently hold a mediocre 3-4 record, the toughest part of the schedule stands behind them as the three remaining opponents totaled a combined four wins. Three wins to close the season would leave NC with a 5-1 region record and a guaranteed home playoff game to open the post-season.
NC’s next matchup proves intriguing as the Warriors welcome sophomore quarterback Malachi Diggs back to Emory Sewell Stadium for homecoming. Diggs started at QB for the Warrior freshman team last season, but opted to transfer to Marietta during the summer.
