The Warriors entered Friday night with a 6-1 record, while the Hawks arrived with a 1-6 record. The Warriors dominated the 3AAAAAAAA region a year prior and so far earned a 3-0 start to 2021 region play. NC will travel to an away game on October 29 against the Marietta Blue Devils, come out and support our Warriors.

The NC Warriors ventured into their third regular-season game with hopes for a quality win. Led by team captains (pictured left to right) Josh Jospehs, Joshua Bagley, Latrell Bullard, and Malachi Singleton, the Warriors dominated the Alpharetta Raiders by a score of 43-7. With 322 passing yards, Singleton and the offensive unit put up a frenzy of touchdowns that proved NC as a dominant force in this year’s 7A class. The Warriors return on Friday, September 17. To take on the Etowah Eagles in a Cobb-Cherokee matchup.

Following a 59-16 scrimmage win over the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets, the NC Warriors ventured into their first regular season game. Despite taking a 14-0 lead at halftime, the Warriors ultimately fell to the Buford Wolves, 35-27. With impressive performances from quarterback Malachi Singleton, wide receiver Reggie Givhan, and defensive specialist Marquis Grove-Killebrew. Although an undesired outcome, the top-ranked Warriors plan to go back to the drawing boards for next week’s outing versus the Milton Eagles.

As football season eclipses the horizon like a late afternoon game in Emory Sewell Stadium, the NC Warriors set out for great heights and deep runs. The Warriors return several varsity starters from last year, while also adding multiple high-level transfers from around the state of Georgia. Led by head coach Shane Queen and junior quarterback Malachi Singleton, the 3-7A region champs set a tough regular season schedule in order to prepare for the state playoffs. Between a dominant receiving core and a stellar defense, the sky remains the limit for any success that the Warriors can achieve. “I’ve always told our kids we want to be a program that the first 10 are considered practice games, and they get you lined up for where you go in the playoffs, and we hosted the first two games in the playoffs and we got a great draw,” Queen said.

The NC Warriors reached the 2020 7A GHSA state round after winning the 7A 3 Region championship, marking a year of hard work and commitment. As a reward and motivating factor for next years’ team, NC introduced several changes, additions, and improvements to the campus and program. One of these improvements include new jerseys schemes. Junior defensive end Joshua Josephs (pictured above) models the grey and white combo, a common combination that fans saw over the course of the 2020 season.

“I love that Malachi is BRAVE. Being that he has two older brothers, he’s played on basketball teams with them, rode scary rides at amusement parks and even faced a few giants on the football field. But Malachi always did everything his brothers did and never was intimidated, even the times he was on the football field without them,” Malachi’s mother, Margaret Singleton said. Malachi’s bravery has definitely paid off, he now experiences nationwide success and anticipates a lengthy and prosperous football career.

NC senior, Ben Moran, committed to play football for KSU. While at NC, Moran made friendships on the team that will last a lifetime. “They’re like my brothers, I love each and every one of them,” Moran said. And while he prepares to move on, his memories of high-school football will stay with him forever.

The quarterback achieved an impressive #15 ranking in the state of Georgia and will continue to grow in his next two years at NC.

Despite the odds, the NC varsity Warriors charged onto the field valiantly excited to honor their school and their peers. The Warriors overcame the Wolves while improving their skills in the first home game of the season by winning against one of the highest-ranked teams in Georgia. “I am just really proud of our kids to come in here and play the way we did like that was very impressive. They are the winningest team in the last 20 years in the state of Georgia. They have lost 17 games in 17 years,” Queen said.
